Class Descriptions

Grades: 7-12

Life's funner with a runner! One of the most exciting, challenging & rewarding things I've ever done was run middle distance on a cross country team in high school. I'd like to offer this experience to students wanting to try out running. We will meet once a week to run, train & talk about the workouts (done on their own) for the rest of the week. At the end of the session, we will run a 5k (3.1 miles) race together on July 23rd. Come join the adventure that will change your life!

Grades: 3-12
Teacher: Coach Dave Kemp

This is one of the sports Coach did and loved in high school. Students will explore many of the events of an American Track Meet: Hurdles, Long Jump, Relays, Dashes, Intermediate & Long Runs, Shot-Put, and Discus. Basics of stretching and the mechanics of running, jumping and throwing will be covered as well. This camp is great training for other sports.

Grades: 4-12
Teacher: Coach Dave Kemp

Can you ever get enough Dodgeball? We'll be taking Dodgeball to a whole new level! Students will be playing Elimination Dodgeball as well as some of the classics like: Snowball, Prison, Battleship, Dynamite, Bears & Bunnies and Spy Doctor/Target. We will also do a small team tournament each day.

Grades: 5-12
Teacher: Coach Dave Kemp

Hands on science while hiking in the great outdoors! Students will be studying the river systems, rocks, trees, flora, fauna, and local wildlife while hiking through Castlewood Canyon, as well as more in depth geology and weather science at Castle Rock. This camp is based on an outdoor education curriculum that Coach taught for years in the public schools. This is a great opportunity to learn some science, exercise, and discuss the wonder of God's creation. The bark on which tree smells just like vanilla? Parents are welcome to join us. Supplies are included in the price.

Grades: K-4
Teacher: Coach Dave Kemp

Three fun filled days of high activity. Tumbling will include headstands, handstands, cartwheels, rolls, human pyramids and more. Dodgeball, in its many varieties, just because they love it. Finally, we will enjoy a game of Mass Soccer after working on skills and some fun drills.

Grades: 2-12
Teacher: Debbie Kemp

Students will have the opportunity to make fun, colorful aprons with a variety of techniques. This is a great beginner sewing class. Aprons offer so many options and depending on individual skill levels, we'll work on gathering for ruffles, simple applique, and pockets as well as ties. Please plan to bring a sewing machine, spool of white thread and simple sewing notions (pins, scissors, and needles). Fabrics and decorations will be provided. This class will be held at our home in Downtown Castle Rock this year with a limited number of students, so definitely plan to sign up early. *Students 10 and under will need a parent (or older sibling) helper. If you took this class last summer, we’ll be sure to add some new skills to your apron!
